Book That Vacation–5 Instagram-Worthy Places To Travel
Written by: Taylor Rao
We all know it’s always 5 o’clock somewhere, and if you’ve spent the winter scrolling through social media feeds filled with palm trees, tropical cocktails or a valley view–it’s time to book yourself a getaway that is as relaxing as it is beautiful.
And let’s face it –looks matter when it comes to finding that perfect vacation spot. In today’s online culture, you’re keeping your colleagues and friends far more updated than just the “out of office” email. Whether you’re sharing photos of your trip with your Instagram followers, making restaurant recommendations on Facebook or sharing memories a year later, you’re going to want to capture every minute of your travels.
So, when choosing the location for your long weekend getaway or dream vacation, get inspired by some of the most Instagram-worthy vacation spots right now.
1. Newport, Rhode Island
Newport captures Americana in New England. Known for its historic mansions along the expansive cliff walk, the city’s signature walkable outline along the coast, you’ll be sure to find plenty of photo opps along the 3.5-mile stretch.
You can make your getaway quaint and cozy by staying at a locally-owned bed and breakfast and walking the classic, cobblestone streets for shopping and restaurants. What can you expect to find? Perhaps a beachy hoodie for a nighttime walk, some fresh New England seafood, or better yet, a Del’s Lemonade –Rhode Island’s iconic spot for frozen treats.
2. Palm Springs, California
Palm Springs is a year-round vacation destination that has so much more to offer than just Coachella. If you’re into desert vibes, you can sit poolside with a mountain view in the dry heat and admire the art deco architecture Palm Springs is famous for.
If you’re looking to relax, stick with a spa treatment at one of the area’s mid-century modern resorts and grab cocktails at a trendy spot like Azucar at La Serena Villas. And if adventure’s your thing, take a ride on the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway and soak in the views from over 8,000 feet above sea level.
3. Reykjavik, Iceland
As cold as it is, Iceland is a hot travel destination with really great deals on flights. Plus, it’s a picture perfect setting with its natural landscape of glaciers, waterfalls and outdoor mineral baths like the Blue Lagoon, which has over 46K hashtags on Instagram.
Traveling somewhere so trendy does come with a price, though. If you can save on airfare, be sure to save the extra cash for your lodging, food and drink as prices are much higher than industry average –it’s the third most expensive country in the world.
4. Charleston, South Carolina
If you’re in the market for a vacation that tastes as good as it looks, you’ll want to head right for the streets of Charleston –home to one of the most up-and-coming restaurant scenes in all of the U.S., serving up the classic southern favorites from shrimp and grits to chicken and waffles.
The southern charm is everywhere in this historic city and the photos don’t do it justice. There’s the colorful row houses on Rainbow Row, Waterfront Park overlooking the Cooper River, and of course the many trees you can see in Charleston –palm trees on one street and Angel Oaks on the other.
5. Marrakesh, Morocco
This is an overseas trip you’ll never forget, and one your social media following will be asking about with every post you publish. For the arts and culture lover, there’s museums in fashion, art and history, and the city of Marrakesh remains a cultural hub for writers and artists today to get inspired and share their works.
And for as much fun as you can have on the ground admiring the beautiful gardens and colorful tiles embedded in the architecture, a proper camel ride is a must to experience the sights from the African desert.
