Weight-loss, Muscle-building… I had no clue what I was doing, but thanks to the Internet and YouTube I found a winter workout plan that has been working great!

Let me start by saying I am a Creative Director, I am in no way shape or form a fitness coach.  Just an average 27-year-old woman who just wants to lose weight in the comfort of her warm home and not at the gym.  So please don’t expect anything from me other than some inspiration and motivation.  Just saying this is working for me, maybe it could work for you.  I was 164 pounds, hips size of 38 inches (ugh).  Biggest I’ve ever been.  My jean size at American Eagle was a 12 and a 14 at Target.  My shirt size was a large, which fit alright, but was baggy so I wouldn’t show any fat.  I wasn’t ok with that.  So, January 9th I made a commitment to become the best, fit me by the Spring/Summer.  I want to look amazing in Sundresses and rock that Bikini with confidence.  So, after browsing the internet I’ve cultivated a workout that seems to work for me.  If it works for you then that’s GREAT!

I have been doing this workout for exactly 3 weeks now, including eating better with smaller meals, cutting down on soda and alcohol, I have lost about 3 inches around my waist and down to 158 pounds.  It’s not a huge difference but it’s great progress and I feel great!

All you need is a yoga mat, or in my case a soft carpet and blanket.  Whatever size weights you want to use, I use 5 pounders but am going to bump up soon.  Leg weights about 5 pounds each and a waist trainer.  I love my waist trainer but don’t wear it for more than 6-8 hours a day.  I wear mine while at work under my clothes.  Lastly, a super cute workout outfit.  I always wear the Target C9 Active wear, cheap and comfortable.  Normally I eat a small dinner then work-out for about an hour, hour and a half, however long I feel, usually it’s during my evening shows, taking small breaks to hydrate and rest during commercials.  If I am awake and motivated I will do every single workout, but if I’m sluggish or a bit sore I will do only a few, do whatever you feel comfortable with.

In no exact order, here are all the workouts I do, no set number of reps…I just go until I can’t anymore.

STANDING

Calf-Raises
I do this first as a warm-up, very simple to stretch out my leg muscles.

Jogging in Place: With Leg Weights and Arm Weights.
I like to jog for a total of 30-60 minutes while holding and lifting the arm weights.  This is my warm up preparing for jogging outside once Spring hits.  I’ve never been a runner so this is a great way to start.

Squat Press
This one always hurts the next day but is very effective. I can’t drop it down too low, but each day it gets easier, some days if I am having trouble I just squat against the wall.

Torso Twist
I don’t have a medicine ball but I do use the arm weights, but want to get a medicine ball.

LAYING ON BACK

Butt Lift Bridges
This is by far my favorite workout.  Cracks my back, stretches me out and is very comfortable.

Reverse Crunch
I do crunches but they are pretty boring and hurt my back, so I like doing reverse crunches. Also good to switch it up and move your legs in a rotating motion like you’re on a bicycle.

Side-Lying Leg Lift
This one is tricky, lifting your leg up to the side is something that takes time to be comfortable with.

FLOOR

Plank: Knee to Elbow
I mix this one up between regular planks for 25 second intervals to doing the leg lifts.

Plank: Leg Lift
Or try this variation, this one’s a bit harder.

Flutter Kicks
Love these, I feel very comfortable doing it. You can only lift your legs a little or you can go all the way up at a 90-degree angle. Whatever you want and whatever speed you want.

I hope these workouts help you get to your goal. I can’t guarantee anything because we are all different but coming from a woman who HATES working out, this plan is working great! Enjoy and let me know if it does the same for you. I’ll keep updating on progress along the way.
